Falck transports over 1000 Covid-19 patients across the Country
Throughout the on-going Covid-19 pandemic, there has been the continued requirement for certain cohorts of patients to visit hospital for life-saving treatment.
To ensure that all these patients continue to receive their treatment, even when suffering with Covid-19, Falck has set up a national framework of Covid-19 crews, supported by a newly formed dispatch team and local coordination teams.
This week we will hit the milestone of transporting over 1000 Covid (+) patients a week and we would like to extend a huge thank you to all the frontline crews, dispatchers and site teams who are working relentlessly to support this. It is a testament to the commitment, resolve and ‘daring in care’ attitude across the business that we are able to deliver this service on a volunteer basis, ensuring we are able to support our patients and the NHS during this most difficult of times.
In particular we would like to extend a huge thank you to the 12 individuals from our Kings College contract who made up the first wave of Covid-19 crews who started to deploy 11th March and have now transported over 850 patients across South London.
We are also delighted to highlight that 27 patients have now been able to transfer back to our standard patient transport service having safely recovered from covid-19.
Contract Manager Helen Bellman said of the Covid19 crews “To each individual who has played a part in the South London Covid-19 team so far and for anyone else who joins I could not be prouder or more grateful”
