Someone's got to take the lead! Trialling electric Patient Transport vehicles in London
SOMEONES GOT TO TAKE THE LEAD! At Falck we are committed to ensuring we deliver our services as sustainably as possible and where we can, to limiting our carbon footprint. This month our Patient Transport (PTS) Teams in London, began an ambitious new trial of a fully electric PTS vehicle to test its ability to safely, effectively and comfortably deliver a full PTS day shift. We are delighted to say that the results of the trial were positive and we are now looking at how we can work with our NHS Clients to explore developing a network of charging stations.
James Graydon, Director at Falck Ambulance UK said of the vehicles “ As well as being a more sustainable option, the vehicles also offer an improved patient experience due to their silent, smooth and comfortable ride”
He added “This is a really important step forward to support the health of patients by reducing emissions around hospitals, but also supporting the wider health of the London population and the environment. With the widening of the ULEZ and the Mayor’s plans for a zero emissions zone for 2025, Falck are determined to be at the forefront of this technology and not just to talk about it, but to be using it.”
With this trial, Falck are committed to demonstrating that electric vehicles can form a practical and effective part of our fleet strategy both in London and nationwide. We are proud to be taking the lead in developing solutions for the future of our industry, patients and the environment.
